Layered necklaces work by combining a few different lengths and styles together, rather than relying on one piece to do all the visual work on its own. We stock pieces designed specifically for layering: fine chains, small pendants and simple bars, in 9ct and 18ct gold, hand-finished at our Birmingham workshop. Getting this right usually comes down to varying the length by a couple of inches between each piece, so they don't sit on top of each other or tangle. Mixing metal tones within layered necklaces is a matter of taste; some people prefer everything in the same gold tone, while others like the contrast.
