Clarice first came to Manna Jewellery a few years ago to commission a custom gold charm, marking the beginning of her family’s ongoing relationship with our studio. Since then, we’ve worked with Clarice on jewellery repairs, ring resizing, and more. But her most recent visit led to one of our most breathtaking creations yet—a bespoke opal engagement ring. Matthew arrived with a stunning oval opal, rich with vibrant colour and emotional value. This heirloom-quality stoneimmediately stood out as a centrepiece for the design. Knowing its size and delicate nature, we crafted a setting to both protect and showcase its beauty. A diamond halo was added for a brilliant frame, enhancing the opal’s iridescent tones with extra sparkle.
Together with Matthew, over a series of consultations, we began the design process. We started with hand-drawn sketches and then refined the design using CAD (computer-aided design) technology. This gave the customer a realistic 3D preview of the ring before it was handcrafted.
After five weeks of meticulous work, the finished piece was ready for the surprise proposal. Clarice was overjoyed—and admitted she hasn’t been able to take her eyes off her one-of-a-kind engagement ring since.
